I skipped a week. What happens to my backlog?

The cards pile up as overdue and wait for you. Nothing is lost, nothing expires, and no progress is deleted. Reps has no daily limit, so the whole backlog appears in one session and you work through it.

That first session back is heavy. It is the cost of the week off, and better than the alternative, which would be quietly hiding cards from you until the numbers looked comfortable again.

Your intervals still make sense

A card reviewed late is still a card reviewed. Answering one correctly a week after it came due tells you something useful: you held it for longer than the schedule assumed.

Cards you fail come back quickly, which is the correct response to having forgotten them.

Getting through it

Do not reset anything. Resetting a deck to escape a backlog throws away every interval you earned and puts genuinely learned cards back at the start.

Work in focus blocks rather than trying to clear it in one sitting. Two or three 50/10 blocks will move a surprising amount of a backlog, and the count drops fast once the easy cards start passing.

If several classes are behind, read the scheduler before you pick one. The subject with the nearest exam and the lowest prep bar is where the evening should go, and that is rarely the pile with the biggest number on it.
